The Weija-Gbawe Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended hearty congratulations to John Ayiku Ocansey on his appointment as the Deputy Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), describing the move as a fitting recognition of his dedication and expertise.

In a statement issued on March 20, 2025, and signed by Constituency Secretary Fati Ahmed, the party lauded President John Dramani Mahama for appointing Mr. Ayiku, a long-standing and devoted member of the NDC in the constituency. The statement highlighted his extensive contributions to the party and his distinguished career at ECG, spanning over 25 years.

“Congratulations to Mr. John Ayiku Ocansey on his well-deserved appointment as the Deputy Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana. We thank the President for recognizing his exceptional leadership and expertise,” the statement read.

The NDC noted that Mr. Ayiku’s deep-rooted commitment to the Weija-Gbawe community and his proven track record in various roles, including as a former Constituency Treasurer and Parliamentary Candidate aspirant, make him an exemplary choice for the position.

The appointment has also been warmly received by ECG staff, who have worked closely with Mr. Ayiku over the years. Prior to his new role, he served as the HR Manager for the Accra East Region of ECG, bringing nearly three decades of experience to the position.

Mr. Ayiku holds a BSc in Social Sciences from the University of Ghana, an MSc in Governance and Development from the University of Cape Coast, and an LLB from Mountcrest University College. His academic credentials and professional expertise further underscore his suitability for the role.

In an introductory letter dated March 17, 2025, Energy Minister John Jinapor urged ECG employees to extend their full support to Mr. Ayiku, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in driving the company’s success.
