Nana Akoma Dankari, the Ahenemahemaa of Dormaa Traditional Council and Women Organizer for the Dormaa Central branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has delivered a firm message to women regarding relationships, emphasizing the importance of respecting men’s time and resources.
In her address, she urged women to be mindful of not squandering the efforts and resources of men who genuinely invest in relationships.
She emphasized the need for women to discern the potential for a future in a relationship and to exit gracefully if no long-term prospects are evident.
“It is imperative that women refrain from prolonging relationships that do not hold the promise of marriage, while also avoiding denigrating men as worthless after the relationship concludes,” she remarked during an interview conducted in honour of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2024.
The Ahenemahemaa stressed the significance of women honouring their commitments in relationships, acknowledging the substantial sacrifices men often make to meet the demands of their partners. She cautioned against mistreating men under any circumstances, asserting that honesty and transparency about one’s feelings are paramount.
“It is crucial to communicate openly with men about one’s intentions, and if the outcome is unfavourable and they persist, any subsequent actions will be at their own discretion,” she stated firmly.
Furthermore, Nana Akoma Dankari directed her attention to the youth, advising students to prioritize their education and refrain from engaging in premature sexual activities that could jeopardize their future prospects.
“Ladies should not be swayed by the enticing words of young men, as they may find themselves facing unintended consequences,” she cautioned.
Reflecting on the invaluable contributions of women to national and societal development, Nana Akoma Dankari emphasized the importance of women supporting and uplifting one another, calling for unity among women to serve as guardians of each other’s welfare.
