YILT Africa to Host National Unity and Peace Symposium 2024 on Saturday

The event will also focus on the importance of peaceful elections, encouraging voter participation on December 7, 2024.

YILT Africa, in collaboration with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), the National Peace Council, and the Pentecost University, is set to organize the maiden National Unity & Peace Symposium 2024 (NUPS 24) under the theme “Get the Youth Involved.

Scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Pentecost University in Sowutuom, Accra, the symposium aims to foster non-violent coexistence and enhance youth participation in the electoral process leading up to the upcoming general elections.

According to a press statement from YILT Africa, the symposium’s objectives include promoting peaceful coexistence, reducing political tensions, and empowering the youth to ensure their voices are heard in decision-making processes.

The event will also focus on the importance of peaceful elections, encouraging voter participation on December 7, 2024.

 

Recognizing the competitive nature of the 2024 elections, the symposium will gather a diverse group of stakeholders, including state agencies, security experts, government officials, traditional and religious leaders, media leaders, academia, policymakers, civil society organizations, and youth groups.

YILT Africa emphasized that the symposium will have a lasting impact on fostering a culture of tolerance and civic engagement in Ghana. An appeal will be made to political actors to engage in constructive debates and avoid divisive rhetoric, particularly among grassroots activists.

The event will feature prominent figures from Ghana’s political landscape, highlighting the importance of unity and collaboration in the lead-up to the elections.
