Two people are reported dead and some 23 others sustaining serious injuries following a gory accident where a bus crashed through the Zebilla Custom Barrier in the Upper East Region.
The accident which happened on Saturday morning involved a Bawku-bound Yutong bus with registration number GT 5524-16.
According to reports by some passengers and eyewitnesses, the bus started swinging crazily on the road after it reportedly burst a tire. The driver of the bus who had lost control of the vehicle plowed into the barrier and somersaulted into some shops nearby.
It is unclear if the dead were passengers of the bus or were pedestrians close to the buildings the bus crashed into.
However, it is believed that a significant number of the passengers sustained serious injuries.
Personnel of the Ghana Police Service and Ghana National Fire Service were swift to swoop down on the accident scene to rescue victims.
