Asuogyaman: MP cuts sod for the construction of a School at Sokpokofe

He appealed to the Church of Pentecost and other religious Organizations in the community to support him in this project

Residents of Sokpokofe – a suburb of Asikuma in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region have witnessed the sod cutting for the construction of an ultramodern 2 unit KG block to mark the beginning of the establishment of a school in the area for the first time.

The initiative is by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asuogyaman Constituency Thomas Ampem Nyarko.

Addressing the gathering, the two term MP lamented about how children from Sokpokofe, Adoglokofe, Bobli and Nyikpodzi, all suburbs of Anum-Asikuma walk about three miles on the Kpong -Asikuma – Ho highway to access Basic Education at the only basic school in Asikuma township known as Asikuma Presbyterian Basic School.

“I wish to express my heart felt gratitude to our own Akusiaku Berempong Kumi Sasraku VIII, Anumhene, and the Odikro of Anum-Asikuma for their roles in helping me acquire a suitable site for the construction of this new school which I believe will eliminate the risk these our small children are exposed to – walking along the highway in order to access basic education,” the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the 2024 election stated.

He appealed to the Church of Pentecost and other religious Organizations in the community to support him in this project.

“I want to appeal to the Church of Pentecost, to support me to establish this school for this community, I know what the Pentecost Church is doing for mother Ghana and I have this conviction that in the nearest future this public school will be adopted by the Asikuma-Sokpokofe Assembly of the Pentecost Church,” he stated.

Also, as part of his service to the people of the Constituency, the MP presented twenty sets of street lights to the community and tasked the Assembly member of the area to furnish his office with ten community members in tertiary institutions to be considered in his support scheme.

The Circuit Supervisor for the Frankadua circuit court, Madam Janet Dzorkpe, on behalf of the Asuogyaman District Director of Education, thanked the MP for bringing education closer to the people of Sokpokofe Community. She said, the school, when established will reduce the high enrollment in the Presbyterian Basic School which currently stands close to 1,500 pupils.

On behalf of Anumhene, the Odikro of the community expressed his gratitude to the MP and promised to support him in every step until the project is fully completed.
