Bawumia commissions third FATS at Duayaw Nkwanta

Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia, on March 26, 2024, commissioned the Fire Service Academy and Training School (FATS) at Duayaw Nkwanta in the Ahafo Region of Ghana.
The project is Ghana’s third academy and training school in the country, with the first and second located in James Town in Accra and Wungu in the North East Region respectively.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia expressed joy and stressed that such a project emphasises the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Ghanaians and enhancing the capability of the service.
“It is with immense pride and gratitude that I stand before you today on this historic occasion, the commissioning of the first phase of the Duayaw Nkwanta Fire Academy and Training School. This milestone reflects the unwavering commitment of the government of His Excellency of Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo to the safety and well-being of Ghanaians,” he said.
“This training school stands as a testament to the government’s pledge in 2017 to increase the number of training schools for the Ghana National Fire Service.”
He praised the Fire Service for their work, promising them government support, and urged them to work extremely hard to reduce incidents of fire outbreaks in the country.
