Celebrating an Iron Lady with a Big Heart – Hon Akosua Frema Osei Opare
Today, 5th June, is a day to celebrate an awesome iron lady whose heart is as large as life and whose brilliance is as scintillating as the aurora in the night sky of Scandinavia. For many years, I have known this lady, who is popularly known as “Mummy” or “Auntie Frema”, but it can never be a coincidence because she truly has exhibited her loving and caring tendencies to all and sundry, young and old. Her benevolence toward the grassroots of our great elephant party, and indeed, Ghanaians in general, since her early days until today is an example that many who wish to carry their name in honour must emulate. But she is one tough cookie you cannot break, very resilient if you ask me!
Under the stewardship of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Ghana saw the arrival of the first ever substantive Chief of Staff. It has not been a joy ride for her at all though. Following in the footsteps of her Boss, the President, she is in her office earlier than the sparrows that chirp at dawn as if to sing happily at the prospects of a sunrise that would clear the fog and early morning mist. She, also, closes late as if to ensure that Ghanaians are safely tucked in for the night and safely asleep.
Her worry for the welfare of Ghanaians is an endless struggle of restlessness. Wherever her input is needed, she never hesitates to make good on her duties and promises. However, there have been people who have sought to oust her in a clear attempt to spite the President’s choice for this position that she occupies. Like we say in Twi, )tanfo ny3 Nyame, to wit, “Haters are not GOD!” Verily it is so, for those whom GOD hath blessed and anointed, no evil can touch.
Today, she has clocked yet another milestone in her long journey in life. As we celebrate her, we pray that ALLAH grant her many more years to add that she may give of her immense experience. She is an institution on her own. Her knowledge is enough to tutor the multitudes in various disciplines: loyalty; honesty; patriotism; and nationalism.
The truth is that she has guarded the national kitty religiously, which is why the few envious ones wish her gone. In all, we give thanks and praise to Almighty ALLAH for her exemplary life and commitment to ensure that the right thing is done. Under her watch, THE RIGHT THING ALWAYS GETS DONE!
Thank you Mr President for appointing her as your Chief of Staff. We pray that you will recognise the loyalty and honesty she has served with so that you may reinstate her as the Chief of Staff of your next government, too, come January 7, 2021, in shaa ALLAH.
