The Assembly Member for Konadu Yiadom Electoral Area in Suma Ahenkro in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, Prince Atta Edward, who is also the President of the Bono Regional Chapter of the Ghana Association of Assembly Members (GAAM), has lamented the neglect of the welfare of Assembly members and its possible future consequences.

He said in an interview with Ghananewsonline.com.gh that, “since the inception of the decentralization and Local Governance Act in the 1992 constitution of Ghana, the various Governments have denied the Assembly Members on a lot of grounds which has really affected the decentralization of governance. This attitude will prevent a lot of competent candidates from contesting to represent their people in the various Assembly’s  in some years to come since they are not given the needed financial support to execute the task imposed on them”.
