Franklin Cudjoe reacts to Prof. Opoku Agyemang speech, says Interesting days ahead
He described the NDC running mate speech as Presidential and uplifting!
The president of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe has reacted to speech delivered by Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang during her official outdoring as the running mate to the flagbearer of the party, former John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, April 24, at the Kofi Ohene Konadu Auditorium at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA).
The former Minister of Education among other things said she will not declare to the world that she was only the driver’s mate when there are challenges in their administration.
“I will share in our collective successes and share responsibility for our setbacks if any. And, at the time of reckoning, HE John Dramani Mahama, I will not, in the advancement of self-serving ambition, declare to the world that I was only the driver’s mate.” She said.
“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, before I go on to other important matters, please let me state my understanding of where we are as a country and the implications of what lays ahead, as clearly as I can manage it: the election ahead of us is not about making history, although that is important. It is not about returning a former president back to power, or about producing the first woman vice president, historical and exciting though they are. It is not only about bringing the National Democratic Congress to power although that is indispensable in our current circumstances.” Prof. Jane Naana indicated.
Reacting to this on Facebook, Franklin Cudjoe said interesting days ahead.

“What a speech! Presidential and uplifting! Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang says she will never consider herself a “driver’s mate”. Interesting days ahead.” Franklin Cudjoe wrote.
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang statement comes after the vice president and flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) called Ghanaians to vote for him and make him the main driver to control the steer.
“As Vice-President, I am like a driver’s mate. But if, by the Grace of God, you make me President, I will be in the driver’s seat with constitutionally mandated authority to pursue my vision and my priorities.” Dr. Bawumia said this when addressing the nation to tell his vision ahead of the general elections.
Prof. Opoku Agyemang added that Ghana has faced a terrible situation before so the next NDC government will work assiduously to turn things around.
I remain inspired by the fact that, as a people, we have faced terrible situations before. Check our history. Please don’t begin with the Fourth Republic or the struggle for independence, important though they are. Go hundreds of years back. In those hard times, our forefathers and foremothers did not throw up their arms in despair. They fought back; they resisted, they sacrificed, they persevered; they brought back hope where there was none; they picked up the broken pieces and carefully, strategically, sewed them back, and they left for us a legacy of selflessness, patriotism, and pride. It’s our turn to leave the same and even better to our future generations. Giving up is not an option.
