Ghana to host maiden Global Cyber Capacity Building Conference

Organized collaboratively with the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization, Cyber Security Authority, Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE), Cyber Peace Institute, World Bank, and World Economic Forum, the two-day conference is themed “Cyber Resilience for Development.”

Over 800 delegates from more than 100 countries worldwide are set to convene for the inaugural Global Conference on Cyber Capacity Building (GC3B) taking place in Accra from November 29 to 30.

The Director-General of Cyber Security Authority, Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, announced this groundbreaking event during a Minister’s Press Briefing at the Ministry of Information in Accra today.

Organized collaboratively with the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization, Cyber Security Authority, Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE), Cyber Peace Institute, World Bank, and World Economic Forum, the two-day conference is themed “Cyber Resilience for Development.”

It aims to bring together high-level decision-makers and practitioners from governments, international organizations, the private sector, civil society, and academia.

Dr. Antwi-Boasiako emphasized the pivotal role of cyber resilience and capacity building in supporting the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The conference aims to raise awareness among decision-makers regarding the importance of creating and leveraging cyber capacity building programs and opportunities.

Among the anticipated outcomes, Dr. Antwi-Boasiako mentioned the development of a global cyber capacity-building agenda, enhanced coordination mechanisms, and increased resources for cyber resilience.

He sees this conference as a golden opportunity for Ghana to establish itself as a leader in cybersecurity development in Africa.

Stakeholders are urged to actively participate to ensure the conference’s effectiveness, fostering networking opportunities, catalyzing commitments on cyber capacity building, and elevating Ghana’s visibility in global cybersecurity issues.

Dr. Antwi-Boasiako also highlighted the economic value expected to be generated by the influx of delegates, benefiting the country’s tourism sector.

The media’s role was underscored as crucial in educating the public about the significance of cybersecurity.

Dr. Antwi-Boasiako expressed gratitude to the media, recognizing it as a vital partner in the cybersecurity endeavor.

Christopher Painter, President of the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE) Foundation, emphasized Ghana’s pivotal role in leading discussions and collaborations in the critical realm of cybersecurity.

The GC3B Conference is poised to contribute to global efforts for a more secure digital future.

Present at the briefing were key figures including Mr. Christopher Painter, President of GFCE; Members of the Cyber Security Authority Governing Board; Members of the Joint Cybersecurity Committee; Mr. Daniel Gyampo, President of ISACA, Accra Chapter; and Mr. David Gowu, Executive Director of the Institute of ICT Professionals, Ghana.

The GC3B Conference is expected to mark a significant milestone in the global cybersecurity landscape.
