Gov’t pays for air tickets, Covid test for Ghanaians in Ukraine but some fail to show up for evacuation

“Government of Ghana purchasing air tickets which remains unused as well as paying for Covid 19 tests for person with no intentions of travelling.....

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has revealed that the government has paid for the air tickets and Covid testing for Ghanaians in Ukraine to be evacuated back home but some of them have failed to show up for the evacuation.

The Ministry has appealed to only Ghanaians who are willing to be evacuated to confirm their participations as to avoid the dissipation of scare funds.

A statement issued by the Ministry on Tuesday March 8 said “Government of Ghana purchasing air tickets which remains unused as well as paying for Covid 19 tests for person with no intentions of travelling.

“The government is therefore entreating only Ghanaians who are willing to be evacuated to confirm their participations as to avoid the dissipation of scare funds.”

“In the case of those who refuse the offer to be assisted to return home, the Government of Ghana’s obligation towards them ceases after they have been provided with with 2 nights hotel accommodations,” the statement added.
