Hundreds in Kejetia Market benefit from Alan Special Ladies’ free medical screening

A non-profit organisation (NGO), Alan Special Ladies has organised a free medical screening within the Kumasi City Market.
An executive of the group Madam Christiana Okere on Thursday, October 21, engaged a team of medical practitioners and volunteers to undertake the exercise in West Africa’s biggest trading hub.
The common conditions diagnosed were blood pressure, diabetes and BMI. Others were also vaccinated against COVID-19.
The beneficiaries, most of whom are traders, shoppers and drivers, could not hide their emotion as most of them said they could not afford the services.
They thanked and praised the NGO and the medical officers who have come to show them love and care.
Speaking to journalists at the event, Madam Christiana Okere said the event forms part of activities they were undertaking towards making life meaningful for people especially traders in the informal sector who form majority of Ghana’s workforce.
“We wish to express our utmost gratitude to everyone who in various ways helped us to make this and other events we have organised a success and impacted society”, Madam Okere explained.
“This is not going to be a nine-day wonder. We intend to hold similar exercises in such locations across the country”, she noted.
She also called on individuals, corporate entities and philanthropists ‘to support this agenda.
