Internet services restored after undersea cable repairs – NCA

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has announced the full restoration of internet connectivity on all four(4) subsea cables affected by the March 14 disruptions.

In a statement released on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the communication authority stated that, they worked closely with the four Submarine Cable Service Providers of which, the Main One was fully repaired on May 8,2024.

The Authority further expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their interest, support, and understanding during the disruption, however, issued a directive to mobile and submarine cable service providers to strengthen its regulatory oversight.

“A requirement for all submarine operators to submit their back up and redundancy plans to ensure business continuity and seamless connectivity to data services should their cables get cut or develop a major fault.”
