Johnnie Hughes wins Millennium Youth Impact Award for Professional Broadcast Journalism

“As a broadcast journalist, you have been consistent, resilient and focused on the job, bringing to the fore, issues of national interest and concern for public analysis.

A broadcast journalist with the Media General group, Johnnie Hughes has won the Millennium Youth Impact Award for Professional Broadcast Journalism.

He was awarded by the Youth Leadership Parliament which is under the board chairmanship of Nana Prah Agyinsaim VI, the Paramount Chief of Assin Kushea, for his achievement in broadcasting and also his consistency.

His citation read “You have shown strong passion with professionalism as a broadcast journalist over the years, giving viewers nothing but the best.

“As a broadcast journalist, you have been consistent, resilient and focused on the job, bringing to the fore, issues of national interest and concern for public analysis.

“You are a role model to other young journalists who aspire for greatness and professionalism within the Fourth Estate of the Realm.

“We present to you this citation, having been nominated and won the Millennium Youth Impact Award for professional Broadcast Journalism.”

Past winners include Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Special Ice Limited, the CEO of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Delese Mimi Darko, Member of Parliament for Bantama and Minister of Works and Housing Francis Asenso Boakye, Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum who is also MP for Bosomtwe.

The Youth Leadership Parliament is a model parliament, structured to building the leadership capacity of aspiring young leaders across Africa, equipping them with requisite skills to participate in the democratic processes of decision making and good governance.

The Founder, Kobby Fabian said his vision is to see a new generation of critical thinking and innovative young leaders emerge from the socio-political systems with the mindset of selfless dedication and patriotism, service to communities and when given the opportunity to make decisions, such decisions will put the country and continent first.
