Kennedy Agyapong’s ‘Show Down’ comment trends as Bawumia also uses it
For sure, his critics will proclaim “But show Down” is not Ken’s creation! It is an English Phrase! “The question then is, who, in recent times brought the show down statement to the fore in Ghana?
When New Patriotic Party NPP Flag Bearer Hopeful, Kennedy Akom Preko Agyapong issued his “Show Down”, statement many were those, especially NPP big shots who saw it as a threat. As a result he was haled before the Disciplinary Committee of the Party for questioning and drilled for hours.
However, recent developments have shown that the show down statement has not only caught up with the people, but has also come to live with them, thus being used by all including those that the statement was meant to have been issued against as a threat.
Strangely enough the Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, against whom the alleged “Threat” was issued seems to have found solace in it, as he uses it too in a campaign message.
The Vice President in a recent speech stated that people of the Zongos did not believe that the NPP would bring him on as NPP Flag bearer; but now that he has been assigned on as such, the people of the Zongos will vote massively for him. Also, in the Volta Region, strong hold of the NDC he is going to canvas more votes for the NPP and give the “NDC a show Down”.!
Abronye DC Uses Phrase with Alacrity
Bono NPP Chairman Abronye DC is also on record to have used the “Show Down” Phrase against the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo recently, when he was talking about roads in his region.
Besides these two NPP big shots, many have come to defend Ken on the Shoe Down statement, especially his ardent and diehard supporters. It has also gained a commonplace and daily usage by many Ghanaians.

Why Crucify Ken Then Over Show Down Statement?
This is an inauceous statement I should like to pose to Ken’s critics, who are bent on crucifying him over this statement. If the statement has subsequently gained that popularity and become a household and commonplace phrase for many Ghanaians, why then crucify Kennedy over shown down?
As the Akans will put it, “Nsuo a, Yenwe nu nam no, ye fa mu nsoa funu?” to wit the river whose fishers are forbidden to eat, we pick spoilt fish traps in? or is it the question of this other Akan saying “Kyiri Kooko di ne mma?” (Hating Kooko, of the cocoyam family), and yet eating its seeds?)
My humble opinion is, “if Kennedy, via his magnanity has given us this household, common place phrase of “Show Down”, and we are all using it, why don’t we let it go, and stop maneuvering, manipulating and machinating Kennedy over this issue? After all, there are more serious issues which need more attention than this harmless statement that has however come to live with us!
If they want a cup full of shame, we shall give them a barrel full.
Meanwhile, ardent and frenzy supporters of the Akom Preko man have vowed that if their man’s adversaries want a cup Full of shame from him, they supporters are prepared to offer them a barrel full of it (Shame).
According to them, taking into consideration, the uncountable assistance their man has offered the NPP single- handedly, they see no reason why he should be crucified over this innocuous statement, which they themselves have rendered harmless by resorting to using it too.
Descending themselves as not only ardent but Frenzy and fanatical supporters of Akom Preko Kennedy they intimated that no amount of slander, machination, and manipulation against their man will weaver their support for him.
Subsequently, if his adversaries want a cup full of shame, they are prepared to give them a barrel full of it, when they delve into their armory to bring out their arsenals, they warned
