Leonard Samuel Meredith Foundation partners AWAK Company to Feed the Poor on the Streets of Accra
The renowned entrepreneur further revealed that, the company has designed a cheap affordable housing project called BOA WO NUA PACKAGE that seeks to provide cheap affordable housing projects for families in Street situations at very low or no cost.
The Leonard Samuel Meredith Foundation in collaboration with AWAK Company Limited has fed the poor on the streets of Accra as part of an initiative of providing hot meals for the vulnerable in urban-poor communities in the country.
The initiative was in line with Goal Two of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that seeks to end hunger, achieve food security, improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
Speaking exclusively to Ghananewsonline.com.gh on the sidelines of the donation, a Director of the foundation, Wisdom Kwabla Attakpa, explained that the core mandate of the Leonard Samuel Meredith Foundation is to help eradicate poverty through very innovative programs that will be launched soon. He explained that the street-feeding program is setting the tone for greater humanitarian works that will have significant impact on the lives of the vulnerable in Ghana.
Wisdom Attakpa who doubles as the Managing Director of AWAK Company Limited, also asserted that his Company is associated with the foundation because of its proactiveness and dedication to touching lives.
He clarified that AWAK believes that the poor and destitute in our communities deserve more support, especially as a number of families in Street Situations keep soaring the country.

“You see, we are in the rainy season and a lot of poor families living on the street and in wooden made-shift structures in various urban-poor communities here in Accra are distressed. We are not just feeding them, we have bigger plans to construct affordable housing facilities for many of these poor families that live and survives on the street. We are therefore calling on benevolent organizations and individuals to partner with us to build the BOA WO NUA Village where street families have decent accommodation to help reduce rape and defilement of girls in those areas” he noted.
Mr. Attakpa also expressed gratitude to the founder of the Foundation, Madam Mavis Normalyn Mckenia for her passion and demonstration of love towards all persons irrespective of class, power or race. He opined that the foundation has come to stay and will become one of the social work reference point in Ghana.
“Madam Mavis Mckenia, is a beautiful soul with a heart of gold. The foundation which is her brain-child has come to stay here in Ghana and I can assure Ghanaians that the impact of her work will be felt throughout the regions of Ghana in no time” he concludes.
