As part of its humanitarian project to touch lives in deprived and poverty-endowed communities, LIFE for Reliefs and Development, a United States of America (USA) based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has donated quantities of Manna packs to children and the elderly in communities of the Oti Region.

The Manna pack is a nutritious nut bite that contains a fortified Rice and Soy blend to balance and boost the children’s healthy diet.

A total of 4760 Manna Packs were donated to the children to motivate them to stay at school during class hours and encourage those who are absent themselves to return to the classroom.

Children in deprived communities in Kpassa and its surrounding villages, Sibi, Lamkpa and Lemna all in Nkwatan North District and Jasikan and its communities in the Jasikan District benefitted from the donation.

The Country Director of Life for Relief and Development, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, who led the team to the Oti Region for the donation said the donation was in fulfillment of the organization’s objectives.

He said the items were also to put smiles on the faces of our children and grandchildren, especially the vulnerable in the community, and to express one’s love to the other and appreciate each other.

According to him, children from these communities were the most deprived by families in society, a practice that must be corrected.

Alhaji Farouk however assured that, in line with its objectives, Life for Relief and Development would extend similar donations to other needy children not only in the Oti region but across the country.

Life for Relief and Development is a Humanitarian organization that provides essential and life-saving support to people regardless of their race, religion, gender, and cultural values or background.
