Madugu writes: EIU; why changing John Dramani Mahama is not a proper interpretation of what the report said

The other thing however is that, it’s not enough to win elections just by a revitalized party base, the little margins that comes to deliver power are people who are either fed-up with the government, or those who are within the new voter bracket and those swinging between voter patterns and necessary won’t vote NDC because of JM but something more than that.

EIU never said NDC can’t win elections with Mahama, it said the NDC has prospects of winning 2024 elections, but that prospect can be revitalized with a new candidate. Anyone who says or reports that, it said Mahama can’t win elections 2024 with NDC, is deliberately misleading the facts and putting a twist to the report. Ignore them.
That said, the NDC must read the report and apply the findings against prevailing events within the party. There’re a lot of ways to revitalize a party without necessarily changing the former flag-bearer. There’s no individual current in the NDC today that revitalizes the party’s base better than JM, and that is the first revitalization needed for any party willing to come to power, it must first have a candidate that instigates and excites it membership base.
The other thing however is that, it’s not enough to win elections just by a revitalized party base, the little margins that comes to deliver power are people who are either fed-up with the government, or those who are within the new voter bracket and those swinging between voter patterns and necessary won’t vote NDC because of JM but something more than that.
That revitalized bit, can be the running mate of the party. What JM lacks, that running mate must fill in that space. That person must lead a new proposition for the margins that are needed to deliver power.
When EIU said a new candidate, it does so completely from a purely political research perspectives, but those of us in politics, know what exactly the feeling of people are within the NDC on John Mahama’s candidature, he’s not the first and won’t be the last to carry that momentum within a political party in Ghana.
Fact is, parties in our side of the world are built around individuals, there was a Jerry Rawlings and the Prof Mills’ waves at some point within the NDC, and that wave is now with Mahama, and there’s little anyone can do about it no matter how you look at events.
To revitalized may not necessarily mean to change Mahama, it can also mean an effective party structure from the grassroots up the leadership ladder, it can also mean, an effective communication structure and a well planned outreach among the youthful population of our country that is left in an almost hopeless situation under this failure calling itself government.
The report is harbinger for hope of rerun to power by a party that truly cares about the people, but to achieve that, we must come together and revitalized like that report suggested, and to do that effectively, we must not insult the findings of EIU, because they never said what the media have reported. They only gave us a platform to inspire our country back to power.
