Manasseh Addison Sackey: Deceased Assemblyman Wins District Level Election with Single Vote in Provisional Results

The late Assembly Member for the Tebrebe Electoral Area in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region, Manasseh Addison Sackey has won the District Level Elections with a single vote.

The news has left the community in shock and awe, as residents grapple with the unique circumstances surrounding this electoral victory.

The assembly member, who is also the headteacher of Aboponiso MA School was on his way from his electoral area, Tebrebe to Mile 10 and half, to campaign when the unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

The incumbent assembly member, who was seeking re-election, was travelling with four others in a canoe, which was said to be one of those he had recently donated to the people in the area.

According to sources, on their way, the canoe capsized causing the four to fall into the river. Two of them managed to swim out of the river while the other two, including the assembly member, drowned.

The death of the late Manasseh Addison Sackey had left a void in the hearts of many, and his untimely demise had cast a shadow over the political landscape. However, in a twist that no one saw coming, Sackey’s legacy has been resurrected through an unexpected victory at the polls.

The lone vote that secured Sackey’s victory has become the talk of the town, with speculation and intrigue swirling around the voter’s identity.

Residents of the constituency expressed a mix of emotions, ranging from disbelief to admiration for the late Assemblyman. “It’s like he is still with us, guiding our community from beyond,” remarked one resident, capturing the sentiment shared by many.

Provisional results in the custody of newsalertgh.com indicate that the late Manasseh Addison Sackey secured 860 valid votes to win the elections.

His closest contender Bernard Obeng polled 859, while the other aspirant, Dompreh, came a distant third with 637 valid votes.
