March4Justice: Police struggle to control large crowd of Ghanaians on the streets of Accra

Personnel of the Ghana Police Service detailed to provide security for the ongoing demonstration by the youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Accra are struggling to keep the large crowd in check due to the numbers.

Thousands of young Ghanaian youth clades in red apparels have poored onto the streets of the capital city to express their dissatisfaction with the way the government of the day is running the country.

The demonstration dubbed “#March4Justice” is being organized by the opposition NDC to draw attention to the injustices in the country and the need for the government to take urgent actions to tackle it.

The organizers are also calling for an end to the economic hardships in the country amidst increasing youth unemployment, high cost of living, among others.

The youth wing of the party says it is pressing home the need for the President Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration to take steps to halt the recent killings and attacks on the citizenry by the military and the Police.

It would be recalled that a few days ago a social media activist, Ibrahim Mohammed, also known as Kaaka Macho was murdered in Ejura by unknown assailants. This triggered widespread agitation by the youth in the area, leading to the killing of two other people by the military while several innocent people got wounded.

These and many other heinous acts by the military and Police under the Akufo-Addo government is what led to the protestors jumping onto the streets to demand justice.

Some of the placards they are displaying carry messages that are urging the government and the President to #FixTheCountry to give Ghanaians some relief.
