Military Base Destroyed by angry Ghanaians

...as Ghana Army is hired to terrorize Ghanaians

The ECG and the Forestry Commission have been hiring the Ghana Armed Forces to undertake menial jobs resulting in clashes with citizens.

The total destruction of a Ghanaian military base by angry villagers calls into question the quality of Ghana’s military bases, the ability of the Military to defend its bases and the impact of illegal deployment of military personnel on troop numbers required to perform core function of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The Ghana Army is reportedly creating several Forward Operating Bases to help combat the threat of terrorism, however, as military personnel are deployed to terrorize Ghanaians in various parts of the country, their bases become vulnerable to attacks.

The ease with which a few villagers overrun the military base at Diabaakrom in the Dormaa West District of the Bono Region is very troubling.

The angry villagers boldly stormed the District military base and burnt it down.

The deployment of military personnel instead of police officers to undertake internal security duties such as bullion van escort must be halted.

The Ghana Army is involved in fighting Galamsey with some of its soldiers seen on Joy News TV guarding Chinese Galamseyers in doing their illegal mining activities.

The Military has been also been acting as Landguards on La Lands in Kpletso with the use of heavy equipment and guns.

The military have been involved extrajudicial molestation of Ghanaian citizens including the people of La, Ejura, Wa, Ada, Krobo…

These illegal actions by the Military which have resulted in deaths and injuries have not been properly investigated and the perpetrators and commanders publicly punishment to serve as deterrent to others so the military impunity stops.

The use of the Military by the Ashanti and Greater Accra Regional Ministers to undertake operations best suited for the Ghana Police Service ranging from Riot Control to the Agbogbloshie and CSIR Land reclamation has emboldened other State Agencies to hire the military to terrorise Ghanaians in a quest to protect their staff or coerce residents in the discharge of their duty, a role reserved for the Ghana Police Service.

The Ghana Police Service has several units including the Formed Police Unit (FPU) and Marine Police so why the deployment of the Ghana Armed Forces including the Navy to fight Galamsey and police rivers and water bodies?

is the use of the Military in performing civil Police duties in acknowledgement of the fact that the Ghana Police Service is the most corrupt institution in Ghana?

The Ghana Police Service must be properly equipped, adequately resourced and personnel numbers increased and purged of miscreants to enable it perform its constitutional duties.

The Ghana Armed Forces must be immediately WITHDRAWN FROM ALL INTERNAL POLICE DUTIES and kept at their barracks which must not be located in town or near populated areas.

Ghanaians demand public punishment of perpetrators and commanders of the various acts of impunity carried out by persons in Ghana Army uniforms to bring confidence in the citizenry while ensuring discipline in the army.

Ghanaians are resolved to be Citizens and not Spectators; will not rest till all victims of Military brutalities get justice.

Ghanaians must not wait until the impunity of the Military results in an attempted Coup.

Ghanaians witnessed the Insurrection in Parliament on 6th January, 2021 when some military officers nearly took over Parliament when there was no President, Vice President and Speaker of Parliament.

THAT WAS A COUP.

Who deployed the Military to Parliament and who ordered them to invade Parliament?

Till date there has been no Investigations, no Report and no punishment though the persons involved were seen on national television in real time.

AriseGhana Youth for your country, resist any military takeover any day.

God Save Our Homeland Ghana and help us RESIST THE GROWING MILITARY IMPUNITY.

Ghana must not be militarised, Ghana must not be allowed to become a Police State nor a Banana Republic.
