NDC Parliamentary Primaries: Gabriel Kwamigah Tanko makes Second Attempt at Ketu North

"My passion and effort to contribute to the development of our constituency is Paramount - the evidence can be seen across the Constituency since my civil service days when I didn't dream of ever venturing into politics - I am ready and prepared for the job like no other,"

A young businessman who is also a member of the National Welfare Committe of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Gabriel Kwamigah-Atokple Tanko, is currently lacing his boots to make a second attempt at the parliamentary primaries of the party in the Ketu North Constituency.

He contested the primaries in 2019, but lost to incumbent James Klutse Avedzi with Wisdom Nyamuame and Emmanuel Agbanyo clinging 3rd and 4th positions respectively.

Tanko who has been touring the various branches of the NDC in the constituency ahead of the party’s Presidential and parliamentary primaries slated for May this year, made his intentions known in an interview with Ghananewsonline.com.gh at Dzodze.

According to the astute business executive and professional who has served in various capacities in the NDC both in the Ketu North Constituency and at the national level and is currently a member of the National Welfare Committe of the party as well as a member of the Volta and Ketu North Finance Committees of the party, he was compelled by the dream to usher in a new dawn for the NDC in Ketu North, with the aspiration of making the constituency a very attractive one in his bid to contest the primaries and eventually become the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency on the ticket of the NDC.

Tanko as he is affectionately called by his loved ones and supporters, believes there can be no better replacement for the incumbent MP – Dr. James Klutse Avedzi, who has hinted of his decision not to run for the position again, than him (Tanko).

“My passion and effort to contribute to the development of our constituency is Paramount – the evidence can be seen across the Constituency since my civil service days when I didn’t dream of ever venturing into politics – I am ready and prepared for the job like no other,” he said.

Tanko who is sure of winning the Ketu North NDC parliamentary primaries, said he intends to immediately collapse his campaign team within 24 hours after being declared victorious “so that I can expand the campaign team to include every other person that is cut for Job.”

Tanko advised all parliamentary primary hopefuls against campaign of insults, attacks and acrimony which sometimes characterized political campaigns. He called for a change in the status quo.

“Its imperative that we avoid politics of insults and attacks on one another and rather focus on the messages we have as aspirants for the Branch Executives in the interest of peace and harmony going forward,” he advised.

Tanko said his tour of the constituency affirms his commitment of prosecuting an issue-based campaign devoid of character assassinations, acrimonies and all other unhealthy discourses that may frustrate intended reconciliation activities in the Ketu North constituency.

The Parliamentary Candidate hopeful said, he was using his tour as an opportunity to share with Branch Executives and all other stakeholders his message of “New Dawn” (NUBUKƐ)

“The gate of my house remains open to all NDC faithfuls who truly seek the progress of our beloved constituency,” Tanko added.
