NPP Presidential Primary: Ken Agyapong wins Assin Central with 491 votes, Bawumia 16
Ken Agyapong appears to have made inroads in his home region as he won a number of constituencies in the Central Region.
Provisional results have been declared in the Assin Central Constituency in New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries on Saturday, November 4.
Member of Parliament Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who stood in Saturday’s elections, polled 491 out of the total valid votes cast.
His closest contender Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia had 16 votes. The other two aspirants – Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai-Nimoh – had no votes.
In Assin South Constituency, Mr Agyapong polled 478 votes while Dr Bawumia polled 158 votes. Dr Afriyie Akoto and Mr Addai-Nimoh had 1 and 0 respectively.

From the Cape Coast South Constituency, for instance, Mr Agyapong polled 316 votes out of the total valid votes cast while Dr Bawumia polled 272 votes. Mr Addai-Nimoh had 2 votes while Dr Afriyie Akoto had no votes.
The business man pulled a lot of surprise as well in the country’s capital as he won a number of constituencies in the Greater Accra Region.
At Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Ken Agyapong won with 531 votes while Dr Bawumia trailed him with 441 votes. In Krowor Constituency, Ken Agyapong’s votes totalled 689 while Dr Bawumia’s totalled 411.
Again, in the Western Region, the Board Chairman of Ghana National Gas Company also won some constituencies. In Kwesimintsim, he polled 213 votes to beat Dr Bawumia, who had 171 votes.
The Vice President, on the other hand, vanquished the MP in his home region. In Bunkpurugu in the North East Region, for instance, he swept all the 522 votes.
With the results so far in, the Vice President is in a slight lead and set to be declared the 2020 flagbearer of the NPP at the Accra Sports Stadium.
