Otumfuo’s Greatness Breeds Envy – COP Kofi Boakye

So as we celebrate 25 years, those of us in NPP or NDC as Asantes should come togther and support Otumfuo and see the development Asanteman will have. Now some are developing more than us and it is not Otumfuo’s fault, we the Asantes, rich men should support Otumfuo. Our lack of togetherness has given some people the chance to do whatever they want to us.”

Former Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Kofi Boakye, has stated that some individuals harbour envy towards the King and speak ill of him simply because he surpasses them in greatness.

He referenced the Twi adage, “wo sene wo yonko a ɔtan wo,” which translates to “when you are greater than your friend, he envies you” in English.

Commander 1 emphasized that beyond the well-known Otumfuo Foundation’s contributions to education, Otumfuo has elevated the status of Asanteman on the global stage.

“Forget about the Education Fund. There are tangible and intangibles. Tangibles are the things you can see, and intangibles are the spirit. If you look at how Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has made Asante known worldwide. Look at how he met King Charles. King Charles has been here in Ghana twice, which town has he visited?”

He called upon Asanteman to unite and rally behind their King, especially the affluent members of society.

According to him, certain towns and communities are progressing faster than Asanteman due to a lack of unity.

“…So as we celebrate 25 years, those of us in NPP or NDC as Asantes should come togther and support Otumfuo and see the development Asanteman will have. Now some are developing more than us and it is not Otumfuo’s fault, we the Asantes, rich men should support Otumfuo. Our lack of togetherness has given some people the chance to do whatever they want to us.”
