A multicultural parenting and child organization in Bergen-Norway, Passion For Difference, is set to hold seminar to intensify education on COVID-19 vaccination.

The event is slated for Friday 11th March, 2022, 16:15-19:00 at the Bergen Kultursenter (Dance Hall 4th Floor).

The acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Passion for Difference (PFD), Naana Okyerewah Dwamena said the aim of the event seeks to educate the general public and participants in Bergen on the health benefits of COVID-19 vaccination in line with the National Infection Control Measures to protect citizens from dangers associated with the virus.

A medical expert, Dr. Elmer Edward and Valgjerd Tvedt Levisen as resource person, will lead the discussions to educate participants on the status of infections in Norway and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccination.

Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions concerning Covid-19 vaccination in the country and the government’s approach in ensuring majority of the people get vaccinated.

According to reports, statistics from the health institutions indicates that a large proportion of the sickest coronary patients who were admitted to hospitals were not vaccinated.

Due to this developments, Helse Bergen has collaborated with the State Administrator, the Directorate of Integration and Diversity (IMDi), the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO), the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO), the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) to intensify education on vaccination.

Others also includes Alver Municipality, Askøy Municipality and Bergen Municipality, as well as St. Paul Menighet to support on vaccination measures and information measures to increase Covid 19 vaccination among the unvaccinated population.

In line with this, a comprehensive plan has been developed and compiled information to encourage people to get vaccinated against the coronavirus in different languages.

The seminar is expected to throw more light on the issues at hand as a way of educating the public is being organized in collaboration with the Ghana Union Vestland and Vestland Innvandrerråd.
