PLAYBACK: IMF, Finance Ministry briefing on review of Ghana’s economic programme under IMF bailout

A joint press briefing is currently ongoing between the International Monetary Fund and the Finance Ministry led by Ken Ofori-Atta.

This comes after the IMF staff team, led by Mission Chief for Ghana Stéphane Roudet, successfully concluded meetings in Accra, spanning from September 25 to October 6, 2023. The purpose of these meetings was to assess the progress of reforms and the government’s policy priorities as part of the first review of Ghana’s three-year economic program under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) arrangement.

The press conference has announced that the IMF staff and Ghanaian authorities have reached a staff-level agreement on the first review of Ghana’s economic program under the ECF arrangement. This agreement, however, remains subject to approval by the IMF management and consideration by the Executive Board, contingent on the receipt of necessary financing assurances.
