Referendum: Ras Mubarak apologises for standing against NDC
The National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s Honorable Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kumbugu constituency, Ras MUBARAK, has rendered an apology to his party for canvassing for “Yes” votes in the coming December 17 referendum.
In a WhatsApp statement circulating on social media today, Ras Mubarak, and spotted by ghananewsonline.com.gh, the MP relinquished his earlier position of pushing for the amendment of Article 55 (3) of the 1992 constitution to support the NDC’s official position of “No” votes.
“I have come to the conclusion that It is improper to deviate from my party’s official position for a NO vote in the upcoming referendum on article 55(3) of the constitution..I have therefore decided to uphold the party’s position for a NO vote on the matter”.
He added that, it is appropriate for for his preferences to toe the line of his party’s broader interests, in moving forward.
“I have therefore decided to uphold the party’s position for a NO vote on the matter.”
