Report issues of co-payment and top-up with proof to NHIA for redress – NHIS manager

Mr. Felix Oppong Yeboah pleaded with health insurance card holders who are being tasked with paying monies by healthcare providers to report to authorities of the scheme with proof of payment for a thorough investigation and redress of the extortion.

Mr. Felix Oppong Yeboah, the Dormaa Central Municipal Manager of the National Health Insurance Scheme, has revealed that payment and top-up issues have been a major problem for the National Health Insurance Authority.

According to him, leadership is working hard to avoid the canker and ensure effective use of the health insurance card to access quality healthcare.

Speaking to journalists during a free special health insurance registration and renewal exercise for residents within Dormaa Central municipality on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, as part of the Valentine’s Day giveaway, Mr. Felix Oppong Yeboah pleaded with health insurance card holders who are being tasked with paying monies by healthcare providers to report to authorities of the scheme with proof of payment for a thorough investigation and redress of the extortion.

He stated that health insurance customers should stop reporting issues with national health insurance and healthcare providers to radio stations and instead go to any available insurance office to file official complaints about the necessary steps to ensure adequate reparations for the problem at hand.

Mr. Yeboah Danso, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Dormaa Central Municipal Health Insurance, explained that the programme has been in place for the past four years and that management always organises free registration and renewal of insurance for the people as a major Valentine boost to mark the Valentine’s Day celebration, with the goal of attracting more people to the health insurance scheme so that they can access free healthcare services.

He said due to the exercise, they are always ranked 1st or 2nd in terms of health insurance participants within the Bono region, which he said is a significant improvement in the number of clients.

Some of the program’s attendees thanked the leadership of the Dormaa Central Municipal Health Insurance Scheme for ensuring their acquisition of insurance cards that allowed them to access free medical care.
