Rotary Club of Kumasi spreads Christmas joy with GHC10k donation to Remar Ghana Children’s Home

The Rotary Club of Kumasi demonstrated the spirit of giving on Saturday, December 16, 2023, by donating assorted items valued at over 10,000 Ghana Cedis to the Remar Ghana Children’s Home in Patase, Kumasi.
The generous donation, including bags of rice, corn, cooking oil, soap, toiletries, soft drinks, and eggs, aims to support the children, particularly during the festive Christmas season.
Nana Effah Mensah, the President of the club, emphasized that such contributions align with the club’s commitment to improving the lives and living conditions of the less privileged in society.
He highlighted that the items were a collective effort from club members, reinforcing their dedication to making a positive impact in their communities.
“As a club, donations like these further confirm our resolve to improve the livelihoods and living conditions of mankind and people in our immediate communities. The items donated today were contributions from the members of the club. This is what we stand for,” stated Nana Effah Mensah.
Addressing the children at the home, Nana Effah conveyed a message of care and appreciation, emphasizing that such gestures signify that society still cares for them. He encouraged the children not to view themselves as outcasts but as valued members of the community.
The Rotary Club of Kumasi, known for its various community projects, including constructing boreholes and water closet toilet facilities, has set ambitious goals for the upcoming year. Nana Effah outlined plans to support approximately 20 orphanages in the Ashanti Region, aiming to transform the lives of children in these institutions with the support of international partners.
Irene Amissah, the caretaker of the Patase branch of Remar Ghana Children’s Home, expressed gratitude for the Rotary Club’s kind gesture. She acknowledged that the donation would significantly aid the home, especially during the holiday season.
Amissah highlighted the challenges the orphanage faces in covering school fees and rent for their homes, urging other non-profit organizations, individuals, and groups to follow the Rotary Club’s example and support their cause.
