Sammy Gyamfi blasts Okay FM Journalist, calls him ignorant over NDC’s plea for manifesto ideas

Sammy Gyamfi, Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has slammed broadcast Journalist at Despite Group, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese for critiquing and expressing his views on the opposition party’s decision to ‘beg’ for ideas for their manifesto, ABC News can report.

Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, as he is known on radio, commenting on the NDC’s approach suggested that the opposition party, led by the former President John Mahama, who was kicked out of government after serving a term, has no business governing the country if they do not already have a plan of their own.

The NDC has appealed to the general public and Civil Society Organisations to contribute ideas that will be considered in the development of their manifesto ahead of the 2020 elections.

Many Ghanaians, after this intention was made public, have accused the opposition party of lacking campaign messages to compete with the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) come December 2020.

According to the host of Okay FM’s ‘Ade Akye Abia’ show, the request by the NDC hints that former President Mahama, may struggle to govern the country should the people fail to provide the party with cogent ideas.

“NDC wants everyone who has any contribution, bring it on board for them to rule the country, NPP, CPP, APC, bring your ideas, so if people do not contribute does it mean they lack ideas? They don’t have ideas. If you ask people to contribute to your ideas it means your own is insufficient. So do well and bring your own. You want to become a President yet you don’t have ideas if you lack ideas then don’t come and govern the state. If you don’t have ideas, tell us so we help you, don’t hide under the guise of being people-centered. There are no ideas” he stated, ABC News can report.

These comments by the Journalist seem to have infuriated the NDC Communications Officer, who has described Kwame Nkrumah as an ‘ignoramus’, which denotes ‘an ignorant or stupid person’.

In a Facebook post, a few hours after the Journalist’s show, Sammy Gyamfi noted that consulting stakeholders before formulating any policy is important for the development of the best policy.

“Stakeholder consultation is an essential element in Policy formulation. The best policies the world over are policies made by the people themselves. It’s only an ignoramus like Okay FM’s Kwame Nkrumah Tikese3 who cannot understand this basic fact” he wrote leading some people to describe him as intolerant.
