Sokoban: Househelp who ‘killed’ his madam convicted by another court in ₵167k theft case

The accused person while on the job as a hotel receptionist at Bantama in Kumasi bolted with his employer’s Infinix Note 8 mobile device and withdrew an amount of ¢167,660.09 from her bank account through a mobile App.

The 22-year-old man who was previously accused of murdering a Kumasi businesswoman at Apaaso near Sokoban in the Ashanti Region, has been convicted by another court for theft.

John Alister who appeared before the Asokwa Circuit Court on Monday (2 October 2023) has pleaded guilty to two counts of stealing, Contrary to Section 124(1) of the Criminal Offense Act, (Act 29).
