Songor Lagoon: Two dead, Others injured at Ada as Security Guards of Electrochem clash with Local 

The Assembly member for Bornikopey Electoral Area, Lawrence Katey confirmed the bloody clash explaining that some security men raided the working sites of the residents at gunpoint injuring several others with the cutlasses and gunshots resulting in the death of the two.

There is uneasy calm at several communities within the Ada Songor lagoon enclave following the bloody incident on Monday in which two were reportedly shot dead and several others wounded in a clash between some local salt winners and security taskforce belonging to Electrochem Ghana Limited.

It is not clear what resulted in the clash at Toflokpo, Ada but The Insight learnt that it was as a result of a struggle between some of the locals and joint police and private security team affiliated to Electrochem over the age-old dispute regarding the Songor lagoon concession granted the company (Electrochem) by government.

As at the time of going to press, information picked up was that the two bodies were yet to be conveyed to the mortuary as the community members cordoned off the said crimes scene and refused to allow the bodies to be picked up until the district police commander arrived at the area for inspection.

Attempts to speak with the officials of Electrochem about the incident proved futile as at the time of going to press.
