Speaker Oquaye awards Hardworking staff of Parliament

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, last Wednesday, March 11 2020, exhibited his high appreciation of hard work, when he awarded some hardworking staff of the Parliamentary service.

The awardees, though high-profiled, did not receive their award because of their positions only but on merit as citations accompanying their awards indicated.

According to the citations, the awardees had been monitored over the years by not only the Speaker, but also his deputies and the Board of Parliament.

The proud winners were, Cyril Kwabena Otin Nsiah, Acting Clerk to Parliament, Alhaji Ibrahim A. Gombilla, Deputy Clerk, Committees, Public Affairs, Parliamentary Relations and ICT and Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, Principal Assistant Clerk in charge of the Table Office of Parliament.

Besides this, the Speaker gave to the Parliamentary Press Corps (PPC) a seed money of GH¢10,000 towards their Educational Fund, while paying a cash amount of GH¢5,000 to Eugene Davis formerly of the Business and Financial Times newspaper for emerging the over-all best journalist at a recently held PPC Award.

All these took place during the launch of Alumni lecture book and Speaker’s Special Awards, at the Foyer of the Chamber Block of Parliament.

The Speaker has also instituted a scheme to award Members of Parliament (MPs) who have worked tirelessly to sustain democracy in the Forth Republic.
