Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS), Professor Felix K. Abagale, has advised students to come out with quality research to boost the country’s socio-economic and developmental status.
He said students should conduct more research to promote positive change in rural areas to enhance the people’s livelihoods.
Professor Abagale gave the advice when he represented the Vice Chancellor at the University’s second Annual Graduate School conference held recently in Tamale. The event aims to prepare students on how to conduct quality research to address developmental issues.
He urged the students to use the best approach to research for development work to improve the well-being of disadvantaged communities in the country.
Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Professor Amin Alhassann, who delivered the keynote address, appealed to students to make a policy brief of their research for publication to allow policymakers to decrease their bias towards an intervention’s perceived effectiveness.
According to him, it leads to more confidence among policymakers on what to expect from an intervention as their decisions are guided by evidence.
Managing Director of ENSAfrica, Lawyer Amina Abugdanpoka Kaguah, encouraged the students to be hard working and determined, adding that, it will have a lifelong impact on their future capabilities, confidence, and happiness.
She said the students should not give up when things get tough, rather, they should work hard to achieve their goals in life.
