The Use of Ghana Card alone must be a No No for the 2024 Polls

The minority in parliament agrees on the use of this Ghana card as the only form of identification for the 2024 polls at their own peril, simplicita.

Coming events they say cast their shadows. But sometimes, when trouble is coming, there is no flag indicating it, reasons it’s only a careful study and probably reading in between the lines, that flag the clues.

The events as they unfold in the acquisition of the Ghana card should be a clear warning to the NDC as a party that,if nothing is done about it, we might be embarking on an exercise in futility in 2024.

My fears have been heightened with the reports that, many of the few who were privileged to even receive their cards, can’t use them because, according to the SIM registration officials, they can either not access any formation on the cards or there are errors, which is rendering the cards unusable.

The minority in parliament agrees on the use of this Ghana card as the only form of identification for the 2024 polls at their own peril, simplicita.

Using North Tongu Constituency for the purposes of this write up, the hard working and dynamic Member of Parliament, Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has it that, for a good 5 months since the 29th of March 2022, the NIA Office in North Tongu has been unable to print Ghana Cards for a massive 1,445 beloved constituents of his who registered for the cards due to what officials are describing as logistical challenges from HQ.

If this is just coming from North Tongu Constituency, just imagine the figures involved in the entire Volta region.

Reports reaching me from Gborkpo and several other villages within the North Tongu constituency indicates that, they use their meagre income in this hard times, when many people are unable to feed three times a day to travel multiple times to the district capital Battor only to be told that their cards are not ready.

The few who had collected their cards too complained bitterly about how they tried to register their Sim cards with the supposed Ghana card, only to be told their cards are not functioning hence they can’t complete the process.

This is creating so much questions than answers in the minds of several people including the author of this write up.

Why are these things happening mostly in the strongholds of the opposition party? What is accounting for the rejection of the few released cards at the SIM registration centre?

Is it the case that, having exposed the delays of the release of the cards in the strongholds of the opposition NDC, the National Identification Authority has started giving fake cards to the citizens of those regions as a cover up?

Is the NIA doing a hatchet job for the ruling NPP?

How come the machines deployed to the opposition strongholds always suffer system breakdown? Is it intentional? It’s obvious these legitimate questions are yawning for answers.

The National Identification Authority must know that, there is no NDC market and NPP market and that any effort to perpetuate this wicked government in power at all cost won’t urger well for both the creates and the implementers of this plans if there’s any. They must know that power is transient and that the useless directives they receive and implement now against the very citizens they’re supposed to serve , they will answer before their creator if not men on this earth.

These are the challenges the minority must watch critically before approving any legislation for the Jean Mensah and Bossman Asare led electoral commission to even contemplate using this death trap of a card which is subtly on the verge of being used to destroy our beloved country.

The minority must abort this dangerous plan,if not for anything at all, for God and country. This space must be watched carefully else, this confident tricksters turn our 6 (six) to 9 (nine)

The peace bell is still ringing H.E Nana Addo, Dr. Bawumia, Hon Ursula Owusu Mr. Ken Atafuah and most importantly Jean Mensah must listen for; posterity won’t forgive them if they plunge this country into chaos.
