“We’re a formidable force in the NPP; no major decision will be taken without consulting us” – Ken Agyapong thanks supporters

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has emphasized his influential role within the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP). This comes on the back of the recent presidential primary which saw him poll over 37% of the total votes cast to place second behind Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s 61%.
According to him, his performance in the election is indicative that no significant decision can be made by the party without consulting him.
During a “Showdown” Thanksgiving party organized for his supporters and campaign coordinators, he expressed satisfaction with his performance in the primary and thanked his campaign team for proving sceptics wrong.
“They underestimated us, but we’ve proven to them that we now control one-third of the NPP,” Mr. Agyapong said. “No major decision will be taken without consulting us.”
Agyapong also shared an anecdote about being underestimated by a pastor who predicted he would only achieve 16% in the primary.
“There was this pastor who even said if I get more than 16 per cent, he [pastor] should be killed. But today, I am praying for that pastor, that God should grant him a long life and he should not die soon.”
The “Showdown” Thanksgiving party, held in Accra, brought together coordinators from all the sixteen (16) regions in Ghana who contributed to Mr Agyapong’s campaign during the NPP presidential primary.
