Why I dump Alan’s camp for Bawumia – Akwasi Nti explains

“Everybody knew I was a supporter of Alan but I have been suspended three times when I was following him and he never picked up a phone to ask me how I was doing during those difficulties. I have been suspended for three times and nobody called me on the phone from his camp even to find out how I was doing.”

Prior to the party’s presidential primaries, Mr. Akwasi Nti, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairman of the Fomena Constituency, announced his support for Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s candidacy.

“I am for Bawumia and I won’t hide it. I support Dr. Bawumia 100% and I want him to succeed. I will work to ensure that this vision becomes a reality” Mr. Akwasi Nti promised.

Mr. Akwasi Nti stated that his support for the vice president stemmed from the fact that “he is from the Dombo tradition and it is his turn to lead the party amidst his show of leadership and competence.”

The controversial politician claimed that he had to leave the Hon. John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen’s side because he felt ignored by the former trade and industry minister, who had been his supporter since 2007.

Mr. Akwasi Nti asserts that Hon. Alan Kyeremanten, who is vying for the party’s leadership, showed no consideration when he (Akwasi Nti) was suspended by the organization.

“Everybody knew I was a supporter of Alan but I have been suspended three times when I was following him and he never picked up a phone to ask me how I was doing during those difficulties. I have been suspended for three times and nobody called me on the phone from his camp even to find out how I was doing.”

The presidential primaries held by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to choose a candidate for the general elections in 2024 will take place on November 4, 2023.

Although Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawimia hasn’t publicly stated that he plans to run for office, certain party leadership have hinted that he will. Many are labeling him as the putative flagbearer given the overwhelming support from the grassroots.
