Participants were drawn from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Municipal Departmental Heads, Assembly members, CSOs, market women, among others.

A day’s sensitization workshop on Ghana’s Case Tracking System (CTS) was held on Friday February 1, 2022. It was organized for both Public and Private Sector agencies in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region. The workshop was on the auspices of the Legal Resources Center, with support from USAID.

Participants were drawn from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Municipal Departmental Heads, Assembly members, CSOs, market women, among others. Participants were taken through presentations and demonstrations to familiarize them with the CTS.

Enock Jengre, LRC’s Chief Executive who doubles as a partner for USAID’s Justice Sector Support Activity, explained that

“the Case Tracking System is a comprehensive integrated system for the Ghana criminal justice sector that has been designed, tested, piloted and is currently being rolled-out with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)”.

He said the Ghana Justice Sector Reform Activity seeks to use the case tracking system to support the Government of Ghana’s ability to effectively investigate and prosecute criminal acts. It is aimed at improving Ghana’s ability to track criminal cases from their introduction into the system to the prosecution of those cases in court, improve information sharing and coordination among Ghana’s law enforcement and judicial authorities, and increase the efficiency and effectiveness in investigating and prosecuting criminal cases of all types, especially those related to corruption, maritime security, border security, cybercrimes and others.

Ghana’s Case Tracking System was launched in May 2018 to aid the effective investigation and prosecution of criminal cases. The system is also intended to boost transparency and accountability in the justice system. It completely eliminates the manual processes, as it runs on a software application where documents can be accessed concurrently by authorized users across the country

Jengre said the Chief Justice and the heads of the other institutions in the justice delivery chain are very passionate about the success of the system.

Ghana’s CTS promotes inter-agency collaboration and information-sharing through the development of an integrated case tracking system to support the Government of Ghana in effectively investigating and prosecuting criminal cases.
