2020 Polls: We’re monitoring you closely, even when you’re sleeping – NDC tells EC

A leading member of the opposition NDC, Kofi Adams has said his party will tighten the noose on its monitoring systems ahead of the 2020 general elections.

Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray, the former National Organizer of the NDC intimated that it does not have the confidence that the EC would be impartial and fair in the lead up to the 2020 general elections, and hence the NDC is compelled to leave nothing to chance, but step up its monitoring of the EC’s operations.

“It doesn’t matter who sits at the EC headquarters. We are watching every step the EC is taking, even when they are sleeping. Whether they are snoring or not we know. Nobody should attempt playing any games.”

He continued “you should have confidence in a process that generates leadership. But they must let us have confidence in them. They should do a lot more to engender confidence that political parties should have in them.”

The opposition NDC is upbeat about victory in the upcoming 2020 general elections and could win 53% votes in the elections.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Jean Mensa, has said the Commission was running an open door policy and was ready to foster friendship with stakeholders towards its goals of organizing a credible, free, and transparent elections.

On the issue of protecting the integrity of the ballot, she stated that although Elections were won and lost at polling stations, it was the responsibility of the Commission to put effective measures in place to ensure that the polls were free, fair and transparent.

She said the EC was in the process of preparing a code of conduct with sanctions for members of staff as a measure to enhance operational performance.
