A fashion designer believed to be in his sixties was burnt to death by fire at his shop at Asamankese in the Lower West Akim Municipality of the Eastern region Tuesday.
According to the Lower West Akim Municipal National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) director, Addo Kwesi Andoh, he had information that at about 10:30pm on Tuesday, a fashion design shop was on fire, and had to inform the fire service.
Upon arriving at the scene, the firefighters were about to douse the fire but the shop owner, Kofi Gyamina, was later found charred.
Locals said Gyamina was a stroke patient hence his inability to escape during the blaze.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Asamankese Government Hospital morgue.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established, however, neighbours believe it may have been triggered by a mosquito coil at the shop.
Six other shops got burnt during the fire.
