The Ibrahim Governance Weekend (IGW) is set to take place in Nairobi, Kenya from April 28-30, 2023. This year’s theme  #GlobalAfrica will explore Africa’s influence on global affairs and how it impacts governance on the continent.

One of the highlights of the weekend will be the Leadership Ceremony featuring the winner of the 2021 Ibrahim Prize, President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger.

Afrobarometer Board Chair Prof. Gyimah-Boadi will take part in a roundtable discussion titled ‘Harnessing the Power of Data to Achieve Africa’s Development Goals.’ This engaging roundtable, scheduled for Sunday, 30th April from 10am-12pm EAT will bring together organizations, experts, and practitioners working to advance evidence-based policymaking on the continent.

The second session, ‘Africa Europe Now Narratives,’ will focus on connecting existing youth-led platforms across Africa and Europe and will feature our Communication Coordinator Asafika Mpako. The session aims to bridge the gap in perceptions between Africa and Europe through dialogues that challenge outdated stereotypes, replacing them with nuanced accounts of lived realities. The session is scheduled for Sunday, 30 April from 13:30pm – 14:30pm EAT.
