All set for district assembly elections tomorrow – EC

All is set for Tuesday’s district assembly and unit committee elections, the Electoral Commission has said.

At least 159,000 electoral officers have been trained to assist in the local elections

The Deputy EC chairman in charge of Operations, Mr. Samuel Tettey told a Press conference in Accra Monday that the Commission has procured all electoral materials and have sent them to all polling stations, calling on all eligible voters to come in their numbers to cast their vote.

He further stated that the lists of all polling and flashpoints have been given to the security services to ensure peaceful elections.

Meanwhile three districts – Lower Manya Krobo, Nkoronza North and Nkoronza South will not partake in Tuesday’s elections.

This is because the tenure of Assembly members and their Unit Committees in the afore-mentioned areas who were elected into office and inaugurated on Tuesday, October 5, 2015, ended on Saturday 5th October 2019, in line with Article 2461(i) of the 1992 Constitution.
