Amasaman gets a new Market

According to the officials, they are eyeing about 20 acres of land for the market, where they intend to bring along the bus terminal and the lorry station. Also in concert with the Assembly and the police, they will send all squatters along the road side into the market to decongest the place.

Two years after the hullabaloo about the Amasaman market, the new Board of Directors, in concert with members of the market committee have acquired a new land for the market.

Dubbed, the “Pokuase-Amasaman New Market”, it is situated on the Western side of the Manipoma construction firm, where the market used to be.

Briefing this ghananewsonline.com.gh, a member of the Board of Directors, Dr. Rockson Adu Boahen, Secretary to the Market Committee, Philip Kwaku Asante, and Chairman of the committee, Abraham Delove Yartey, as well as the treasurer, Sabina Dodoo, said the new market is currently occupying about five (5) acres of land.

According to the officials, they are eyeing about 20 acres of land for the market, where they intend to bring along the bus terminal and the lorry station. Also in concert with the Assembly and the police, they will send all squatters along the road side into the market to decongest the place. What is more, the on-going road construction will not even favor any squatter along the road side.

Describing patronage as massive, the officials indicated that, the project which took off in November, 2022, has registered more than 300 market men and women, who double in the sales of food stuffs, vegetables, fruits, smoked fish and many more. They maintained that as of now, structures on the market are temporary. However, when the expected 20 acre land is acquired to contain over 800 traders, permanent structures will be considered.

Subsequently, they have appealed to all traders to rush for space in the new market before it is too late. According to the officials, their hands and doors are open 24/7. Therefore every trader counts, and is expected there.

The officials indicated that as a fast developing community Amasaman deserves a befitting market to serve the selling and buying needs of the teaming crowd in the community and its environs.

According to the officials, the idea to establish the market downed on them in 2019, and going pragmatic with the idea, they established it, run it for a little over a year, when the unexpected happened.

“However, since we learn from our mistakes and experience is the best teacher, we have put whatever transpired behind us, and looking up to a successful way forward. It is against this background that we invite every, any Tom, Dick and Harry aboard!” they concluded.
