Asiedu Nketia’s campaign strategy apt; boosts grassroots base, 2024 chances

An NDC going into 2024, cannot take risks again

Governance expert, Dr Fed Awaah has described as interesting to watch, the race for the Chairmanship position of the NDC especially because of the high level of enthusiasm it is whipping within the party as the campaigns kickstart.

Dr Awaah, who is also a lecturer at the University of Professional Studies-Accra, says at this stage, what is of importance to the NDC delegates should be an assessment of capabilities, commitment, accountability to the party taking into consideration recent past experiences and NPP’s resolve to Break the 8, at all cost.

Dr Awaah strongly believes the energized NDC today, is poised for power and can quickly be rallied around whoever emerges finally as flagbearer for the 2024 elections. This he says is of national interest following the lack of confidence in the Nana Akufo Addo led government amidst the worsening hardship.

“It is important for the party to elect a Chairman with track record and can guarantee NDC’s readiness to faceoff with a party, manipulating critical institutions and setting up machinery to hand over to itself. An NDC going into 2024, cannot take risks again”…he emphasized.

Touching on the campaign strategies, he said so far not bad and hoped all contestants for regional and national executive positions will take cue.

On a specific question about the App announced by General Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Dr Awaah said beyond his personal achievements, how the public responds by way of contributions from both the party members, businesses and other individuals or groups will reflect his general acceptance and to what extent they will be ready to support the larger party going into the December 2024 elections.

“In the NDC’s constitution, the Chairman is the leader of the party. One of the cardinal principles of democracy is participation. So if you have a candidate, who opens up for accountability and rallies public support for funds, he or she is simply buying their active involvement. Once this is achieved, the people in or out of the party would have signaled their trust, which will be good for the party after their internal elections to launch an all out campaign ” …he emphasized describing the move as a good thing.

On Tuesday, October 25th, Mr Asiedu Nketia popularly known as General Mosquito, outdoored the shortcode 928*001#, when he officially launched his national campaign.

He has been to the Upper East region where he led community engagements.

“My four-day tour took me to each of the 15 constituencies, where I met our newly elected constituency executives within their own constituencies.

“I also visited some senior comrades and old cadres in the region, as has been my practice over the years,” General Mosquito said in a statement adding … “I further extolled the qualities and virtues of former President Mahama and why we must work hard to support his campaign on all fronts for victory,”

The statement concluded that Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia reminded the delegates that he will continue to work with them by providing fearless, courageous, and experienced leadership to return the NDC to the Flagstaff House in 2025.
