Ghana is now producing cocoa tea from the rivers – Wanlov reacts to polluted River Pra

Ghanaian-Romanian musician and film director, Emmanuel Owusu-Bonsu, known by his stage name Wanlov the Kubolor has said the level at which illegal mining activities popularly known as galamsey has polluted the water bodies in Ghana is very worrying.

According to him, the government is not willing to exercise executive powers to halt galamsey activities in the country like they do to some policy implementation which doesn’t benefit Ghanaians.

He said the current state of the water bodies such as River Pra, River Ankobra, River Birim, Black Volta among others spiritually, means Ghana is producing cocoa tea from the rivers.

Adding that if they can destil it the country can get cocoa powder from it since Ghana is now exporting cocoa from other countries.

Speaking in an interview with GTV monitored by Elvisanokyenews.net, Wanlov stated that the farmers are turning their cocoa farms into galamsey sites because they are not receiving support from the government to grow their cocoa farms.

“You mean River Pragya in India or? Pra is like a broom. So a broom river is dirty, It looks like ginger. I think what is happening is that because the farmers are tired of waiting for the government to help them with the cocoa farms, they are turning their farms into galamsey sites.” The Musician said.

“And somehow spiritually, the cocoa that we are not producing anymore that we are now exporting, and that cocoa is now appearing somehow in the water so we are getting cocoa tea so if we can distill that one we can get cocoa powder. I think that is what is happening, the cocoa is now becoming part of the rivers so we are getting cocoa rivers in West Africa. This is my thought about this, it is like ginger gin” He added.

Ghanaian-Romanian musician believes that the government willingly to implement e-levy despite widespread rejection by Ghanaians indicates that the government can exercise executive powers to halt galamsey activities in the country in order to protect the water bodies.

“Just stop it, I don’t know what else, they haven’t actually stopped, they try to try but they haven’t just said stop. They whole Ghana said we didn’t want a-levy but we got it so if the government wants something to happen they will make it happen” Wanlov stated.
