Imo State Union Ghana Pays Courtesy Call on Eze Udo and Eze Ugo at Aflao

The Imo State Union, Ghana, an association of Imo State indigenes living and working in Ghana has paid a day’s visit to King Eze Udo and Queen Eze Ugo both traditional leaders of the Ibo’s in Aflao at their palace in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region on Sunday.

The visit was to commiserate with the royal family following the demise of the mother of the Queen.

Speaking at a brief ceremony at the forecourt of the palace, national president of the association, Leo Clement, paid glowing tribute to the royal couple for their immense contribution to the empowerment of the youth, women and children within Aflao and it’s environs and indeed the rest of the Volta Region, which according to him is evident in the many job opportunities that have been created for the youth and women working in their million dollar plastic and aluminium fabrication company operating in Aflao.

Leo Clement called on other well meaning Ibo’s and Nigerians to emulate the life and deeds of the royal couple describing them as “remarkable and exemplary traditional rulers”.

He also advised all Igbos and for that matter all Nigerians living and working in Ghana to endeavor to join state associations in various parts of the country in order for them to be easily identified in times of need. He called on them to abide by all the laws governing foreign nationals living in Ghana for a peaceful co-existence as “we are all one African people only divided by politics and boarders”.

His royal Highness Eze (Dr) Victor, Eze Udo of Aflao Kingdom was grateful to the visiting team for remembering them during their time of distress. He promised to continue to uphold the traditions, values and tenets of the Igbo people.

The traditional ruler and entrepreneur promised to continue to work hard to improve the livelihoods of all persons who come into contact with him and the wife especially their many employees since according to him “people who by the grace of the almighty have been blessed with material possessions must endeavor to support the less fortunate in society so that the world can be a better place for us all to live in”.

The Queen, Eze Udo Ugo for her part was grateful for the love and fellow feeling shown t her and her husband by the visiting team. She reiterated her husband’s promise to continue to work for the betterment of the livelihoods of all persons, especially women and children in society.

She said because of her love and care for women and children she established the Green Life Foundation, a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) which is into humanitarian support services to the poor and needy and appealed to all well meaning individuals to support the work of the NGO to realize it set goals.

The visit was also used to present the “impactful Women Award of Fame” and a Certificate of Induction into the Hall of Fame to the Queen “for her great efforts and inspiration to other women”.
