LIVE: Education Minister briefs Parliament on confusion surrounding reopening date for SHS 1 students

Despite widespread appeals for a reconsideration of the reopening date, first-year senior high school students were still asked to report to their various schools today.

The Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum is currently briefing Parliament following the confusion surrounding the reopening date for SHS 1 students.

Despite widespread appeals for a reconsideration of the reopening date, first-year senior high school students were still asked to report to their various schools today. Parliament, parents and various stakeholders have advocated for an extension of the reporting date, citing concerns, but the Ghana Education Service (GES) remained firm on today’s reopening date of Monday, December 4, 2023.

This has prompted the House to invite the Minister to brief MPs on why it ignored various appeals from Ghanaians.
