Pained man poisons two kids to death in W/R

“He mostly picks the children to his house for the weekend. This weekend he came for them, he called me last night and told me to come back to his house but I denied. He then told me that he will poison himself and the children if I don’t come back because he does not want his surname in my family,”

A 40-year-old man has poisoned his two children to death at Shama Junction in the Shama District of the Western Region.

The suspect, whose name has been given as Ebenezer Eshun, is said to have poisoned the children after he picked them to spend the weekend with him.

Comfort Arthur, the mother of the children, narrated on Connect FM‘s Omanbapa morning show hosted by Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson that they are currently facing challenges in their marriage and, as a result, they are both living in their separate homes.

“He mostly picks the children to his house for the weekend. This weekend he came for them, he called me last night and told me to come back to his house but I denied. He then told me that he will poison himself and the children if I don’t come back because he does not want his surname in my family,” she narrated.

Comfort Arthur adds that they quickly informed the police and moved to his house at Shama Junction to save the children but it was too late.

“When we arrived at his house, he had locked the door. We kept knocking but he did not open, his landlord opened the door and he came out with the children alive. We were on our way to the police station when I realized my children have been poisoned. They started vomiting, we rushed them to the hospital but they all died,” she added.

The suspect, who also took poison to end his life, is currently under arrest at the hospital whilst receiving treatment.

The children, a boy and a girl, are aged 3 and 8 years.
