SWAG AWARDS: Mohammed Kudus named Player-Of-The-Year

He became the first ever Ghana player to score two goals (brace) at the World Cup in a single game when he scored twice against South Korea in Group H at the Education City Stadium in Al Wakrah.

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) have awarded Black Stars forward Mohammed Kudus as the best Ghanaian footballer on earth.

The AFC Ajax Amsterdam man was seen as the best performed Ghanaian player in the year 2022 for both club and country following his exploits before the end of the year.

He became the first ever Ghana player to score two goals (brace) at the World Cup in a single game when he scored twice against South Korea in Group H at the Education City Stadium in Al Wakrah.

He was the only player from Ghana to win a Man-Of-The-Match award at the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar last year.

Kudus scored four goals and provided two assists with two Man-Of-The-Match awards in the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League group stages including a masterclass performance against Liverpool FC.

He was the breakout star and the most talked about and highly rated Black Stars player at the 2022 FIFA World Cup attracting interest from various clubs across Europe’s top leagues.

In all competitions this season, the 22-year-old Ghanaian midfielder has scored found the back of the net 11 times and provided four assists in 24 appearances for Ajax so far in the 2022/23 season.
