The Football We Played Wasn’t Good Enough- Otto Addo

Meanwhile, on concerns about players’ discipline, he commented, “The discipline on the pitch to play good, play hard, play hard but intelligent and not get silly yellow and red cards is something we have to address and work on.”

The Head Coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo has admitted his side didn’t impress with their display on the pitch against Uganda in a friendly game in Morocco on Tuesday.

According to him, the performance of the men was not good enough and needed perfection.

Otto who takes the team once again- but now on a long-term contract- will now focus on training the team to create chances and capitalize on them.

“We could have done better. We were unlucky it went against us with the penalty and their second goal. But in all, the football we played was not good enough. We should have played with more chances. We have to work on creating more chances and finishing must be better under pressure and it’s a lot of work.”

The Cranes held the Black Stars in stalemate as they neatly capitalised on a 23rd-minute penalty and an 82nd-minute goal cancelling Ghana’s lead twice.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaians had two of their players sent off over issues bordering on indiscipline.

Otto deems the outcome of the game was sponsored by mistakes and says a great lesson has been drawn from it.

“Mistakes sometimes come. A little bit of fear also makes you make mistakes. We have to get over it. It’s a good lesson today. It has some good parts and truly, it’s less to play 2-2 against Uganda. We expected more even though a lot of players were missing.”

Meanwhile, on concerns about players’ discipline, he commented, “The discipline on the pitch to play good, play hard, play hard but intelligent and not get silly yellow and red cards is something we have to address and work on.”

The Black Stars have failed to win any game this year.

Out of five games played, including the recent friendlies, they have lost three and drawn twice.
